Marshaé Sylvester
Marshaé grew up in the Pacific Northwest among the evergreens and mountains and is currently living in Chicago.
Marshaé is honored to be a part of the Church Within A Church Movement, working alongside people who are passionate and committed to being with and for those on the margins. Marshaé is joining CWACM after over 11 years of college campus ministry, doing leadership development with multiethnic teams.
She is currently working on a Ph.D. in Theology & Ethics with a focus on Decolonial projects of identity development and images of God among Black queer femme identified people. Additionally, she is being trained as a clinical therapist, with an emphasis on care for LGBTQIA people of color.
In her free time, Marshaé is making travel plans, catching a show with her partner or painting. She also enjoys spending time outside; after long Midwest winters, she can be found longboarding, biking near Lake Michigan or reading Black SiFi on the beach.
Marshaé is passionate about all people. She hopes for people to be celebrated, in every ethnicity, ability, gender, sexuality and body shape, as image bearers of an immensely generous creator.
